The Nationalliga A Interclub Week is one of the highlights of the Swiss tennis calendar. For our athlete Jenny Dürst, it marked her second season competing for the prestigious Grasshopper Club Zürich. Her week on court was filled with competitive matches, strong performances, and unforgettable team moments.
A strong start on court
The campaign opened against Trimbach, where Jenny began her week in doubles. Together with her partner, she secured a vital point, contributing to a 4–2 team victory – the ideal way to start the tournament.
A singles thriller in Bern
The following day against Dälhölzli Bern, Jenny stepped into her first singles match of the week. In a dramatic contest, she fought her way through and edged out a 11–9 win in the deciding tiebreak. Although the doubles was lost by a narrow margin, the encounter finished in a balanced 3–3 draw.
Consistency across the matches
Jenny maintained her form in another singles win versus Hörnli Kreuzlingen, though the final score ended 3–3 once more. In the decisive group stage match against TC Zug, Jenny proved her versatility by winning both singles and doubles, sealing a 4–2 team victory and securing Grasshopper Club Zürich a spot in the semifinals.
Semifinals – Fighting spirit until the end
In the semifinal, the opponent was again Dälhölzli. This time, Jenny couldn’t match her earlier singles performance. With the tie at 2–2 after the singles, the doubles were decisive. While one match was lost quickly, Jenny and her partner pushed their opponents into a tight battle before narrowly falling 7–10 in the match tiebreak. With that, the team’s Interclub journey ended in the semifinals.
Tennis is more than just results
Although the Grasshopper Ladies narrowly missed out on the final, the week provided much more than tennis results: high-quality practice sessions, shared breakfasts at Hotel Zürichberg, refreshing gelato breaks in Bern, and most importantly, a strong display of team spirit. Jenny finished the week proud of her tennis performances and motivated to keep working hard for the season ahead.
